In Italy, the automatic packaging and wrapping machine manufacturers’ industry continues to improve, growing exponentially year on year to record total sales of 9 billion 229 million euros in 2023, up 8 percent from the previous year. This is the third consecutive record, following 2021 and 2022. An important result, 78.7 percent of which was achieved on international markets totaling 7 billion 262 million euros and 21.3 percent, 1 billion 967 million euros, on domestic markets.
The data were released by the Mecs – Ucima Study Center in the 12th National Statistical Survey, which takes a snapshot of industry trends every year. There are 594 companies surveyed with 38,219 employees.
In 2023, the number of people employed in the industry grew by 1.2 percent, from 37,753 (2022) to 38,219 (2023).
“Basically, the consolidated data affirmed the idea of the pre-consumptions: we are faced with confirmations of how our sector and the entire Italian supply chain has constituted a method that guarantees reliability and innovation”, declares Ucima President Riccardo Cavanna. “Our companies continue to grow, continue to challenge themselves by implementing more and more cutting-edge solutions that allow them to maintain leadership at the global level. As for the domestic market, the publication of the implementing decree on Industry 5.0 will boost new investments and allow the Italian market to grow. The 2024 goal is to reconfirm the 2023 figures“.
